The 2008 Drogheda Chess Congress was held on a glorious June Bank Holiday weekend in the convivial settings of the Boyne Valley Hotel. There was a very convenient entry of 42 which meant that entries were divided into seven groups of six players each. Each group was played as an all-play-all. Entries came from far and wide including one from Germany and one from Spain traveling especially for the event. The winners were as follows:
