Luas Imirt An Oireachtais (Oireachtas Rapidplay), as part of Oireachtas Na Samhna at Rochestown Part Hotel, Cork was held on Wednesday, 2-November and was run over six rounds. The time control was 25 minutes on each clock.

Despite being held middle of the working week, it attracted 36 entrants, many of them strong local adult players. There were many and generous cash prizes with joint first place going to Paul Walsh, Eamon Keogh and David Path.

Singer, Sean O'Shea presented the prizes (but didn't sing!) and Padraig Mac Carthaigh of UCC organised the event. John Alfred, who controlled the last Mulcahy memorial tournament, was controller for this event.

Next years Oireachtas Rapidplay may be held in Derry City.
