The 2011 Irish Junior Chess Championships were held in the Carlton Sheerwater Hotel in Ballinasloe from April 15th to 17th run by John McKenna, former Junior Officer with the ICU. The event was a great success despite the fact that the numbers were slightly down on recent years.

Yes, indeed, under 8 year old Chess Championship and the standard was very high. Well done to Alex Mulligan (pictured right) who won it on 5/5 and also well done to all the under 8 participants this year, pictured left.
