A comprehensive chess course based (for the most part) on a close analysis of games played in Irish Chess Tournaments and the exploits of Irish chess players at home and abroad.

Chess tutorials are divided into three sections 'Beginners Mind', Challengers (1000-1800 Elo) and Masters (1800+).

In each tutorial I analyse a game from start to finish and focus on one or more themes. Games featured will mostly be drawn from Irish Chess Tournaments or feature Irish Chess Players in action at home or abroad.

In the first two 'Beginner's Mind' tutorials I take a look at the Wayward Queen Attack. This four part series entitled 'Playing the Fool' examines a duffer's line that is extremely dangerous for anyone new to the game. The Queen sortie has been employed on two occasions by Magnus Carlsen in recent years and in the second tutorial I look at a highly entertaining high-level game from the 4NCL in 2016.

The first Challengers tutorial 'You Only Live Twice' features a game played between Callum Brewer and GM George Meier at the Gonzaga Classic International Weekender last January. The themes in question are creating a defensive fortress and endgame calculation and intuition.

The first Masters tutorial 'Who Dares Wins' takes an in-depth look at a fine win by one of Ireland's leading Juniors Muhtarim ul-Haque over the experienced Croation GM Ante Saric. Mate is delivered after a flurry of sacrifices and entertaining tactical pyrotechnics but Black missed a number of opportunities throughout the game to seize the advantage and parry white's attack. Tricky IQP positions and the various attacking and defensive possibilities are the themes in focus.
