The World Youth Chess Championship has just started in Durban, South Africa. The ICU has entered two players: Diana Mirza in the under-14 girls, and Tom O'Gorman in the under-12 boys. Tom's results so far have gone with ratings, a loss and a win; he next faces a tough Chinese opponent. Diana followed her expected first round win by drawing with the eighth seed from Russia: an excellent result.
