St. Benildus Chess Club will be holding their traditional Christmas Charity Blitz in the club on Wednesday 20 January coming. Registration is at 7:15pm and the tournament consists of 8 player all-play-all groups, followed by a knock out stage, so seven games are guaranteed. Games are 10 minutes in total, with handicaps for rating differences up to a maximum of 8 minutes v. 2. There are plenty of spot prizes going, and all proceeds are split between the Simon Community and the Samaritans. Entry is 12 for adults and 6 for students. Boards and sets will be provided, but spare clocks for the night would be appreciated. Just make sure that it can cater for different time controls for each player and remember to take it home at the end of the night!
