Kilkenny Chess Club have succeeding in winning the Armstrong Cup for the first time in their history, having finished as runners up for the last few seasons. Kilkenny were crowned Champions of Leinster after a 6-2 win over Bray/Greystones in the final round. Gonzaga finished as runners up 1½ points behind them. Three of the Kilkenny players, (Ryan Griffiths, John Courtney and Mark Quinn) won board prizes scoring 9/11, 10/11 and 9½/11 respectively.
