The Mulcahy Memorial chess tournament was held recently in Cork and attracted a total of 31 entries. First prize was shared between IM Alex Lopez and Elm Mount player Ciaran Quinn who both finished on 5/6. Following a blitz playoff, Corkman Alex Lopez was awarded the prestigious Mulcahy perpetual trophy. In third place on 4½/6 was Stephen Short while grading prizes went to Denis O'Connell, Keegan O'Mahony, Matthew Gallagher and Desmond Doran.
