At the recent meeting of the Irish Chess Union executive it was agreed that the ICU representative would support the candidacy of Mr Bessel Kok for the presidency of FIDE and would also support the members of the "Right Move" team for other positions on the FIDE Executive. The elections take place in Turin in conjunction with the Chess Olympiad, in early June.
A second decision taken relates to eligibility for international selection (Junior and Senior) and to prizes in the ICU Grand Prix. An earlier decision had limited access to selection and eligibility for prizes to those who had paid their membership by 31st December 2005. The Executive agreed to revise this date to 28th February 2006.
