The Irish Chess Union

The ICU Executive is honoured to be able to announce that Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland, has generously agreed to be the Patron of the ICU. This is a new position which we have created specifically to accord with President Higgins' wish to be associated with the ICU, as the body responsible for running chess in Ireland. We are most flattered that President Higgins has agreed to occupy this honourary position.
