TRG stands for Training and ICU-TRG is the ICUs training arm. ICU-TRG currently consists of FST Kevin OConnell (Chairman), GM Alexander Baburin (who replaced Pete Morriss, to whom our thanks for helping to get the ball rolling) and AI Darko Polimac.
You surely know that GM stands for Grandmaster, but what about the other abbreviations? FST is FIDE Senior Trainer, the highest trainer title (about 100 in the world) and there are four other FIDE trainer titles: FIDE Trainer (FT), FIDE Instructor (FI), National Instructor (NI) and Developmental Instructor (DI). We have two: FI Gabriel Mirza, who is the ICU's laiaison man with FIDE-TRG, and DI Colm O'Muireagain, with surely more to follow. We hope to run a FIDE trainer course during this (2013) year's Irish Championship. There are about 2,000 holders of the four titles below FST.
We also have three national trainer titles: Academy Instructor (AI), Club Instructor (CI) and School Instructor (SI). We have not yet run a course for School Instructors (there should be one this year, 2013), we have 26 Club Instructors (awarded in 2011) and 5 AIs (awarded in 2012): Alexander Baburin, Michael Crowe, John Delaney, Gabriel Mirza and Darko Polimac.

The following rules were compiled by Mark Orr in April 2014 after a conversation with Kevin O'Connell about what it would take to implement online fees for ICU-TRG licenses.
- Attendance at an appropriate course is a prerequisite to attaining a training title or applying for a licence.
- It is not required to be an ICU member to attend a course.
- It is required to be an ICU member to be awarded a title or to apply for a trainer licence.
- The first trainer licence is valid for 2 years from the date of purchase.
- Subsequent trainer licences are valid for 2 years from the expiry date of the previous licence.
- If a licence renewal is late a fee will be changed.
- The current charge for a licence fee is 30.
