The membership season ran from 1st Sept 2007 to 31st August 2008. There were 799 subscribed members. The majority of members subscribed at the standard rate. The full breakdown by category for 07/08 is: 514 standard, 99 U18, 50 U12, 78 Unemployed, 58 Over 65. Total membership fees received were €23440.

Most members used the online facility to subscribe. Approximately 29% of members subscribed offline through the membership officer. Members are strongly advised to subscribe online or through the membership officer as subscribing through tournament organisers etc can lead to confusion as to whether a player is registered or not.

This season the Leinster Chess Union enforced the rule that all players in the Leinster Leagues should be members of the ICU by docking points from those clubs who fielded players who weren't current members. This undoubtedly resulted in an increase in membership numbers. If the Munster Chess Union were to follow suit it would likely result in more people registering.
