This year vas very busy for junior Office. I am very pleased with junior activity all over the Ireland and internationaly. The junior championship was organized in Kilkenny and Kilkenny junior club did the great job. Special thank to Maurice Buckley, Bernadette Minock and Rosemarie Kelly. The Glorney and Faber Cup was held in Daventry, England. The ICU coaches were brilliant home and away. Special thank to all coaches David Fitzsimons, Alex Lopez, Peter Caffola, Ryan Griffiths and Karl McPhillips . Ryan and David were in England with team and parents were very happy with their work and enthusiasm so again thank you all. Our juniors made us proud again. Diana Mirza from Adare chess club represented Ireland at many international junior tournaments. She won the silver medal at EU championship and she showed great form this summer. Congrats to her and her father Gabriel Mirza who became Fide Instructor after finishing his course in Prague. Diana is having great support by his father and club who organized the fundraising for Diana's participation at Youth World Chess Championship in Brasil. I think that in next year we should as the Governing organization for chess in Ireland do that job for our best talents. Let me mention other future stars Conor O'Donnell, Eoin Minock, Catherine Hearne, Ronan Magee and many others. Thank you all for your effort and hard work. Our Chairman and all Executive was very helpful to junior chess. Again we had budget for our juniors thanks to understanding of the people in the Committee so I wish to thank them all for help and support. Shane Lee and Noel Keating helped me a lot in Glorney and Faber Cup organization so I with to thank them both for that . We have lots of new junior members and it is great to see so many new young players in ICU. Irish Chess is having good future.
My plan for next year is very ambitious. I am involved in MFL - Moves for life organisation and we are starting with promotion of chess in schools all over the Ireland. As well I will help to Chess For All project, Leinster Chess junior, ChessZ league and all programs that include junior chess in Ireland. Kilkenny Minister Phil Hogan met Chairman and myself in Kilkenny. We were talking about ICU plans and he was willing to help. He is organizing the reception for Kilkenny junior players now in September and this will be the chance again to make some progress. I would like to see junior sub committee formed only for junior chess activity in Ireland and abroad .This sub Committee will help with organization for junior tournaments etc. I am very sure that next year will be very busy one as we have lots of plans in our minds. I wish at the end to thank all Executive members for help in past year and looking forward for new challenges in new season.
