Create and Edit Events
Create an Event
To create an event:
- log in as an Organiser,
- click Admin (in the top navigation bar),
- click Events ,
- To the right of the My Events page title click the New event button,
- fill in the details but, for now, leave Active unchecked,
- the details are:
- Event name,
- Start and end dates (can be the same date for single day events),
- Location: address and co-ordinates (events without valid co-ordinates will not show in the Events page map),
- Time controls: classical, rapid, blitz (select any that apply),
- Category,
- Sections: this should be a comma-seperated list of sections ( e.g. "masters, major, challengers" ),
- Short Playing Event: Select only if the event is less than 14 days in duration,
- FIDE-rated: Select if the event is to be FIDE-rated,
- ICU Subscription Required: If selected a user must have an active ICU membership to join this event,
- Prize fund value,
- Flyer (pdf recommended),
- Website,
- Contact persons' name, email & phone number,
- URLs: links to external content for players such as pairings, results and live boards,
- Notes: A description text field for any other notes,
- Organizer: This user is the event's creator,
- click Save,
- examine your work and if unsatisfied, click Edit, update the details, click Save, and repeat if necessary,
- when ready click Edit, check the Active button and then click Save, to publish it.
Events with active status appear on the Events page,
Searching for and Editing Events
Note that you cannot edit Events created by other organisers unless added to that Event as an Event User by its creator
To edit an event:
- log in as an Organiser,
- click Admin (in the top navigation bar),
- then click Events,
- search for the event you want to alter and click it's name,
- To the right of the event name Edit button,
- update the details and click Save,
- repeat as required.
Deleting Events
Note: only the creator of an event can delete that event.
