Dun Laoghaire Chess Club held its 4th annual rapidplay on Sunday 17th August in the with a record entry of 47 players, including 8 players over 2000 and many of the country's best juniors. The top seeds were IM Adam Hunt from England and FM Colm Daly.
In the first 5 (of 6) rounds Hunt won all his games, though having some hard fights along the way, while Daly was held to a draw in R3 by Belfast player John Cairns but won his other games. The top board in R6, Hunt-Daly, was a quick draw, thus guaranteeing Hunt 1st prize of €300 on a score of 5½/6. Karol Marzec and Killian Delaney both won their final games and joined Daly on 5/6, sharing 2nd & 3rd prizes.
The grading prizes were won by juniors: U1800 Tom O’Gorman, U1500 Luke Scott and best ladies prize Alice O’Gorman. Cross table. Dun Laoghaire Chess Club Report.
