The Leinster Chess Union's Annual Christmas Blitz tournament took place in the Ierne Sports and Social Club, home of the Elm Mount Chess Club, on Wednesday 18th December 2013. There was a record entry of 47 players and they were divided into 6 separate sections with prizes being awarded to the winners and runners up in each section plus some additional grading prizes. The highest rated group was won by Elm Mount's David Fitzsimons with a score of 6/7 with Sam Collins IM finishing as runner up on 5½/7. The only 100% score of the evening was achieved by 12 year old Luke Keenan who scored 7 points in his section from Devano Jose on 6/7. Cillian Stynes won a grading prize in the same section. The other group winners and runners up were Zygis Jacubauskas and Mindaugus Janusaitis; Robert McLoughlin and Alex Goss; Shahram Nikrow and Terry Creighton with Melvin King also winning a prize in the section; Paul O'Neill and Rudolf Tirziman (joint winners) and Atanas Kouhtev and Shane Sheedy (joint 3/4).
