Applications for Coach/Manager, Players, Sponsors are now being sought for the Irish University Chess team, to compete at the FISU World University Chess Championship in Lagos, Nigeria (from August 28th to September 3rd 2006). All applications received will be reviewed by the Irish Youth Chess Association Executive Committee, and then forwarded to the International Selection Committee of CUSAI for ratification/approval.
The ideal Coach/Manager should have:
- A minimum elo strength of 1300.
- Be experienced in a chess leadership role (club secretary, league team captain etc.).
- Willing to possibly pay some or all of their own expenses.
The ideal Player must be:
- An Irish citizen (people born in Northern Ireland are eligible for an Irish passport).
- Between the ages of 17-28 on August 28th, 2006.
- A current 3rd level student, or have graduated with an equivalent degree/diploma as of February 2006. (2006 Leaving Cert students are not eligible.)
- A minimum elo strength of 1400 (men), 800 (women).
- Have represented their 3rd level institute in chess at the Irish University Chess Championships or equivalent collegiate level (as recognised by the Irish Youth Chess Association).
- Willing to pay part or all of their own expenses.
